BATAM – Surprising news spread among residents when the widely talked-about figure, Ratu Wangsa, was quietly discovered to have arrived in Batam. Her visit was not for any official engagement or business matter, but to fulfill a special invitation from the people of Tanjung Buntung to attend a tahlil (memorial prayer gathering) for the late Mr. Ridzuan Osman.
The late Ridzuan Osman, an investor from Singapore who had long lived and built a family in the area, passed away 14 days ago. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Mrs. Ningsih, who is also a close friend of Ratu Wangsa and a resident of Tanjung Buntung.
The memorial gathering, held within the village community, was solemn yet warmly attended by residents who came together to pray for the deceased. The simplicity of the village setting created a deeply touching atmosphere.
Several residents admitted they were both surprised and moved to learn that Ratu Wangsa was present. Despite arriving without prior notice, she was warmly welcomed by the community.
“The residents here truly appreciate her presence. Although she is well-known, she came with such humility and warmth,” said one resident.
Amid the familial atmosphere, Ratu Wangsa briefly introduced herself to those present. Many were impressed by her down-to-earth nature and friendly demeanor, with some even saying it felt like speaking to a longtime friend.
Mrs. Lela, one of the respected women in the community, also shared her thoughts:
“We are very grateful that she came. Her presence brings strength to all of us, especially to Mrs. Ningsih during this difficult time.”
Meanwhile, Mrs. Ningsih appeared very close to Ratu Wangsa throughout the event, reflecting their long-standing friendship.
The late Ridzuan Osman was known among residents as a kind and humble man. As an investor from Singapore, he often contributed to community activities. His marriage with Mrs. Ningsih was also regarded as harmonious by the locals.
“He was a very kind person. He did so much for the people here,” said a resident who had known him for years.
During the gathering, some residents also learned for the first time that Ratu Wangsa has expertise in the field of neuromuscular medicine. Upon hearing this, several residents with nerve-related health concerns expressed their hopes.
In response, Ratu Wangsa warmly shared that during her stay in Tanjung Buntung, she intended to provide simple medical checks and assistance free of charge for those in need.
This was received with gratitude by the community.
In her brief yet heartfelt remarks, Ratu Wangsa expressed her feelings about the warm reception she received.
“I feel deeply touched by the kindness and warmth of the people here. It is rare for me to experience such a village atmosphere. Thank you for welcoming me so graciously.”
To her friend, Mrs. Ningsih, she also offered words of encouragement:
“Life must go on. I believe Mrs. Ningsih is a strong woman. May the days ahead bring hope and better times.”
At the end of her visit, Ratu Wangsa shared that she would be returning to Singapore. She eventually departed on March 16, 2026 at 7:19 PM via an evening ferry, amid heavy crowds of passengers heading back. Her return was to commemorate the birthday of her elder brother, after being unable to secure an earlier daytime ferry.
Her simple yet meaningful presence left a deep impression on the residents of Tanjung Buntung.
For many who attended that evening, the moment was more than just a memorial—it became a gathering that strengthened unity, empathy, and friendship in a time of grief.
And for villagers who rarely experience visits from such a figure, Ratu Wangsa’s presence became a truly unforgettable memory. ✨
